Designed primarily as a sculpture. The exocentric circular glass panel is also a water feature. From the morning dew to the midday sun; highly polished surfaces refract the light differently during the course of the day. Made from 316 stainless steel. |
Interpreted as a hovering bird of prey by some and as a seagull by others. The movement of the bird has been caught in mirror-polished stainless steel, giving a strong sense that the bird is actually flying. Small distortions in the polished surface create movement in the flowers they reflect. North Cornwall. 500mm wing span. |
Imitating water, "The Break" demonstrates the build up in the back part of a wave and the breaking of the wave in a single sculpture. Just like water "The Break" is reflecting the black background in this photograph. Viewing the sculpture from different positions, generates the impression that the water is also moving. |

"My sculptures are created from flat sheets of high quality metal which, once polished, retain their properties, refracting light, through the dew of the morning, or in a more organic way, when the sun emerges. "The organic movement built into the shapes adapt naturally to a garden setting. "Stunning visually, they are also tactile. They can be experienced through the joy of touch. Caress their curves. "Needing little maintenance, the rain will wash away the dust. Some owners, however, do wash and polish the curved surfaces, which is a wonderful way of calming a hectic day."

A beautiful form with mother and child in mind. |
Standing 2m high, this stainless steel chair made for the Cornwall Garden Society Show, was Richard's very first piece. "Ergonomically designed, the curve of the chair back supports the lower lumber region and mirrors the natural curve of the human spine as you trace its form upwards." Comfortable to sit in, Richard looks forward to being commissioned to create a full dining room set. The highly polished 360° surfaces reflect the majesty of the chair's surroundings. |

Angel Fish. Commissioned by some lovely people from Truro, who adore fish.
The smaller sculpture was a Marquette for the larger partner,
which stands some 8 foot high. Side by side they are stunning. |
Essence is one of Richard's earlier pieces, a form which he has revisited with increasing success. The contours create a stunning refraction of the light both indoors and in an exterior garden setting amongst plants. As the observer examines the facets, "the sculpture will seem to vanish, like a zebra amongst the reflected foliage." Standing about 4 and ½ foot high it's graced is enhanced with the careful choice of a solid stone base. |
Commissioned by a couple in Scotland, to enhance the garden of a beautiful 1930’s house, with a gorgeous garden, to which this sculpture is now central. Standing some 10 or 11 feet high, this sculpture seems to change form when observed from different angles. Simple curves from one view become an elegant swan from another, or is that a wave forming. |
