All gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show have
a theme, a central concept around which the garden is designed.
In 2004 I was engaged to create a large water feature which not only towered over the garden adding to the 3-dimensional perspective but also I had built in Cornwall before work was started on the garden. The huge arc and pool were secured to a steel girder structure which was buried underground. Once the water feature had been located, the laying of the mosaic path and planting of the beds was completed well in advance (about 3 whole days) before the opening of the Show. As a result, TV camera crews visited us every day, morning and evening, as we were the only garden in a condition which would fairly represent the quality of designs to be exhibited. We had a constant flow of well known presenters passing through, while we had time to enjoy the occasion and relax before the mayhem of the main event... Chelsea Flower Show 2004. |
